Scott Wheeler’s Barlow commission, Spirit Geometry premiered February 28, 2010 at the Slosberg Recital Hall at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. The performers were cellist Joshua Gordon and pianist Randall Hodgkinson. The piece was also performed on September 17, 2010 by cellist Jesus Castro-Balbi and pianist Gloria Lin. In a review of this piece, David Perkins of the Boston Globe said that, “…what we hear is a sparkling, inventive, and well-wrought piece, in four movements, that deserves to be heard often.” In addition, he explains that Wheelers piece “is engaging from the first to last bar” (click here for full article).
